Foundation completion
See where your organisation is at with completing Foundation, and exactly who to follow up with, without exposing anyone's draft answers.
Overview
Foundation completion is a live Signals dashboard. It answers one question:
Where is my organisation at with completing Foundation?
It counts everyone on your staff, including people who have never had a Foundation launched, and recalculates from today's data each time you open it. There is no date range: the dashboard shows where everyone is now.
Organisation admins and WeMatter RPO users can open it from Signals.
What is counted
Staff
Staff are the people in your organisation whose profiles are not deleted. Admins are included. WeMatter RPO users are not.
One status per person
Each person is counted once, against their latest Foundation that hasn't been deleted. If someone has an older submitted Foundation and a newer one that is still outstanding, they count as outstanding. The People table notes the date of their earlier submission.
Because each person has exactly one status, the status counts always add up to the number of staff.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Not launched | This person has never had a Foundation launched, or their only Foundations were deleted. |
| Not started | Their latest Foundation is launched but has no saved answers yet. |
| In progress | Some answers are saved, but not every required answer is complete. |
| Ready to submit | Every required answer is complete, but they haven't submitted it yet. |
| Submitted | Their latest Foundation is submitted. |
Outstanding means launched but not submitted: Not started, In progress and Ready to submit together.
Overdue
Overdue is not a separate status. An unsubmitted Foundation is overdue once its deadline date has passed. A deadline that falls today is not yet overdue, and a Foundation with no deadline is never overdue.
Section progress
A Foundation has five sections, each with two required answers:
- Work Life Harmony
- Professional Priorities
- Personal Drivers
- Current Performance
- Growth Opportunities
A section is complete when both of its required answers are saved. Each answer counts on its own, exactly as people see it in their Foundation, so a later section can be complete while an earlier one isn't.
Remaining work by section includes outstanding Foundations only. It shows how much is left, not why.
Draft answers stay private
Nobody other than its owner can read an unsubmitted Foundation, including admins and WeMatter RPO users. The dashboard and its downloads show status and progress only, never draft answers. Names link to each person's profile, and only submitted Foundations link to the Foundation itself.
Groups
You can filter and group by department, region, manager and WeMatter lead. Each uses the person's current profile values. People without a value appear in an explicit group, such as "No department".
People with more than one manager or WeMatter lead appear under each of them in the breakdown, so group totals can add up to more than the number of staff. The summary still counts them once.
A grouping your organisation doesn't use has no filter or People column, and its breakdown explains that nothing is set up yet.
Reading the dashboard
- Summary: the share of staff who have submitted, how many have never had a Foundation launched, how many are outstanding and how many are overdue. The bar shows every member of staff by status. Select a segment to list those people.
- Remaining work by section: how many outstanding Foundations have completed each section. Select a section to list who still has it to do.
- Breakdown: submission by department, region, manager or WeMatter lead, lowest submission rate first. Long lists can be searched or shown in full. Select a row to list those people.
- People: overdue people first, then people without a Foundation, then everyone else outstanding, then submitted. Search and filter by status, overdue, a section not completed, or any group.
Selecting a status, section or breakdown row replaces the People table's own search and filters, so it always lists exactly the people you selected.
The dashboard filters and grouping are kept in the page address, so you can bookmark or share a view with colleagues who have access. The People table's search and filters, and the Breakdown search, are not saved in the address.
Downloads
Download CSV offers two files. Each one uses the dashboard filters on screen.
- People: one row per person in the People table, including any status, section, group or search you have narrowed it to. It includes status, overdue, deadline, answers complete, completion of each section, submission dates and groups. Section progress is left blank for people who have submitted. It never includes answers.
- Breakdown: the current grouping, one row per group, limited to any groups you have searched for.
